Anthropic says public benefit fund could receive shares equal to about 20% of the company
Anthropic said in a post on X that it will transfer part of its equity to the newly created Anthropic Public Benefit Fund, a wholly owned entity dedicated to public benefit work. The fund will start with 5% of Anthropic’s shares. Under the structure outlined by the company, the board may approve an additional 2% equity transfer each time the company’s valuation rises 50% above a set baseline. Anthropic said that, under this framework, about 20% of its total equity is expected to be directed to public benefit purposes. The company also said its co-founders have pledged to donate 80% of their personal equity, while about half of employees are donating part of their holdings through an equity matching program that has been in place since the company was founded.
